Green Media Toolshed is a nonprofit organization dedicated to growing the capacity of the environmental movement by providing other nonprofit organizations with access to the communications tools they need to reach out to their target audiences. Services: Effective communications take people, training and tools. However, many basic communications tools " including print and on-line media directories, images, polling information and news distribution systems " can be prohibitively expensive for nonprofit organizations. With a membership of 82 organizations and growing, the Green Media Toolshed is bridging this cost barrier for a variety of environmental organizations at the state, regional and national levels. Green Media Toolshed is an Application Service Provider (ASP), which means we offer tools that are built in a central place. Like a telephone voicemail system that allows many customers to access and store information in one, centralized location, the Toolshed can be accessed through a web browser (Internet Explorer). Members are able to use and store data through one shared system. Green Media Toolshed provides its member organization with: * A media database that is regularly updated with new contact information; * An on-line library of images * Access to recent polling data on a host of environmental issues; * Tips and resources for strengthening media outreach skills; * An online press room where groups can post their press releases; and * A password protected campaign coordination area that helps members communicate within coalitions and collaborate with other members in a secure online area.
